Frequently Asked Questions

How can we order the manufacture of castings?

Provide us with a drawing showing the required shape, material, required quantity, required scope (only manufacture of cast iron raw material, up to heat treatment, up to machining, etc.), desired delivery date, and the delivery destination. We will determine whether we can manufacture the product based on the provided information, submit a quotation, discuss in detail, and start the manufacture.

What is the maximum size of casting you can manufacture?

We have manufactured FC products up to 4 tons and ni-resist products up to 2.5 tons at the Wakayama Plant, and FC products up to 13 tons and FCD products up to 8 tons at the China Plant. These are guidelines. However, since the weight of products varies depending on the materials and shapes, you should obtain the final answer from us during the manufacturing planning phase.

Do the Wakayama and China plants manufacture different products?

The two plants share the technology required for manufacture; therefore, either plant can manufacture the same product. However, since the two plants are different in the sizes of facilities and have different fields of expertise, we determine the plant in consideration of the priority of customer requirements and the provided conditions of unit weight, required quantity, materials, and delivery time. Specifically, the main fields of expertise at the Wakayama Plant are the manufacture of conventional FC materials, FCD materials, ni-resist cast iron, and alloy cast iron, such as Ni-Cr-Mo cast iron with product unit weights of tens of kilograms up to approx. 4 tons. The China Plant has larger facilities and production capacity than the Wakayama Plant and can manufacture heavy products of 4 tons or more (as for FC, up to 12 ton) and a large number of products of 4 tons or less in a short period.

Can we contact the China Plant in Japanese?

Since three Japanese employees and four translators are permanently assigned (as of April 2012), you can freely contact the plant on the phone or through e-mail the same as in Japan. English inquiries by e-mail are also possible. Please feel free to contact them.

In case of manufacture at the China Plant, how long of a delivery time is required?

Although it varies depending on the shapes and quantity of products to be manufactured, for example, when we manufacture the raw material for one bed of 3 tons for a machine tool and deliver to Japan:

  • 2 weeks for manufacturing pattern in-house
  • 2 weeks for casting to final shipping inspection
  • within 18 days for shipping from the plant, customs clearance for export, marine transport, custom clearance for import and delivery

It is possible to deliver within a total two months. In addition, since both two plants do not apply the line production system to the same products, it is easy to change manufacturing processes for flexible handling of the required delivery time.

Is it possible to request the manufacture of a prototype at the China Plant?

We accept the manufacture of multiple types of products in small lots including prototypes. The reason why we can handle this request is that we can manufacture the patterns for multiple types of products in a short period in our own pattern factory (50 employees). Patterns made of foamed material frequently used for single products are precisely manufactured in a short period using an NC die sinking machine. In addition, since the same products are not manufactured in line in the casting process, but many single products are manufactured at the same time, and the casting process can be started immediately after the completion of a pattern, we can manufacture many types of products simultaneously. As mentioned above, our China Plant employs a system where we can manufacture not only a large lot of the same product but also many single products in a short period.

At the China Plant, is the quality of molten materials stabilized?

In Xinxiang, Henan-sheng, where our China Plant is located, we can acquire molten materials with quality similar to that in Japan. Only one thing we must handle carefully is the acquisition of steel materials (scrap). For this, we select vendors that can supply materials with a constant component in the same shape. Moreover, when we change materials, we ask the third party laboratory to perform an investigation and use the material after verifying that there no problems.

What is ni-resist cast iron?

The raw material of cast iron with a high content of nickel is classified into several types based on nickel content and has the characteristics of heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and low thermal expansion. Our company paid attention to this raw material in around 1980 to repeat research and development, and have manufactured many products up to now.
